Taking the DN50 vortex flowmeter as an example, vortex flowmeters are most sensitive to vibration, which can generate false signals. If a vortex flowmeter produces a signal output and displays a corresponding frequency when subjected to artificially induced vibration, it indicates that the vortex flowmeter is functioning properly. Therefore, it is necessary to analyze whether the flow rate in your pipeline falls within the measurable range of the DN50 vortex flowmeter. You should consider the following:
1. Superheated steam or saturated steam? It's probably saturated steam.
2. What are the operating temperature and pressure? Refer to the manufacturer's manual to check the corresponding flow range.
3. Steam production is not equal to steam consumption. You need to estimate the flow rate of downstream steam-consuming equipment to see if it falls within the range of the vortex flowmeter.
4. If all the above meet the requirements of the DN50 vortex flowmeter, it is necessary to check whether the installation meets the requirements of the vortex flowmeter, such as installation direction, vibration, especially resonance.
Points to note in the use of steam flowmeters
Vortex flowmeter is one of the flowmeters with high demand for steam measurement. Due to its wide application, it can measure the flow of steam. When using vortex flowmeter to measure steam, there are also some points to note. Here are some precautions for using steam flowmeter.
Precautions for using steam flowmeter
1. During transportation, vortex flowmeters should be protected from strong collisions and rainwater.
2. Make the most of our company's packaging to directly transport the steam flowmeter to the installation site.
Upon receipt of the steam flowmeter, please confirm whether there are any bumps, scratches, or other damages during transportation.
4. Confirm whether the model number matches the one on the product nameplate.
5. When storing, it is recommended to utilize the company's original packaging as much as possible, and the storage location should meet the following conditions and requirements:
① A place where there will be no exposure to rain ② A place where vibration or collision is minimized ③ Temperature: -40℃ to +55℃ ④ Humidity: 5% to 90%
When storing a used steam flowmeter, it is necessary to thoroughly clean the residual liquid and adhering substances inside. Additionally, ensure that the power supply interface is sealed to prevent moisture.
7. The flowmeter should be used under the specified conditions. If the flowmeter is damaged due to improper use, the user shall bear the maintenance costs.
8. Ensure sufficient straight pipe sections are reserved at both the inlet and outlet. Normally, a minimum of 15D should be reserved at the inlet and 5D at the outlet. In cases of valves, tees, elbows, etc., the straight pipe sections should be extended further, with the inlet reserved for 30-40D.
9. In case of any issues with the steam flowmeter, it is necessary to promptly contact the manufacturer for after-sales maintenance.
